Augmented Reality 101

by Chris Lindholm

No doubt we’ve all heard the hype about augmented reality technology, but some of us are slower than others at connecting the dots and recognizing how new concepts might impact our future.  This very brief video produced by Common Craft explains augmented reality and helps some of us slower folks understand how it might be something to pay attention to.  It certainly raises questions about web presence and how to ensure the “augmented” part of our future reality is presented to others in a positive light.

What will pop up on the screen when your school, church, organization, or community is looked at through the augmented lens (think of the public wearing those glasses all of the time…)?  Where does the information come from and how do we control it?  What about students picking colleges, high schools, or even more interesting… classes and teachers?  I’m afraid it no longer works to ignore new technologies and how they impact the decisions of our upcoming generations.  Time for us slower learners to step it up!!
